Two ways of working
An LMS, then everything else. Or one record.
The question is not whether Moodle delivers courses well. It is where programmes, transcripts, attendance and invoices live once the courses are delivered.
With Moodle
- Install Moodle for courses and assignments.

The scores given to Moodle are for Moodle Core without third-party plugins. A plugin changes the row: that is why the column says “third-party plugin needed” rather than “no”.
What it costs
The software is free. Running it is not.
Moodle Core is open source and costs nothing to download. What costs is everything that has to go around it.

- You do pay for hosting, or for a MoodleCloud plan (a flat annual fee per band of users) or a certified partner’s offer.
- Added to that, as needed, are plugins, theme work and integrations for billing, video and student records.
- And someone has to install it, update it, secure it and maintain it: a contractor, or someone on your own team.
Moodle’s licence is free. The total cost depends on hosting, plugins and the technical team needed to keep it running, and it varies widely from one institution to another.

We publish no prices on this site, because a price shown out of context reads badly and ages worse. What we publish is the rule.

- Can EasyClass replace Moodle?
- For a school that wants courses, academic administration and payments in one place, yes. EasyClass holds courses, assignments and assessment, and it also holds what Moodle leaves to other tools: programmes, fees, attendance, transcripts and communications. For a university that relies on a wide range of plugins, the answer needs a case-by-case look.
- What does moving from Moodle to EasyClass involve?
- There is no Moodle connector: your courses and assignments are put back in place with you during set-up, from your exports, as part of the data migration. The rest (programmes, fees, attendance, transcripts) does not exist in your Moodle and is built with you. It is usually simpler than changing LMS, because there is nothing to map on both sides.
- Does EasyClass work in French?
- Yes. The platform, the documentation and the team that supports you exist in French and English, and the vocabulary is taken from your institution rather than imposed on it.
- How long does it take to set EasyClass up?
- Three to five days for a guided set-up, two to three weeks for full support including data migration. Training the teams is included either way.
- Is Moodle really free?
- The licence is. Running it is not: it has to be hosted, updated and secured, and often extended with paid plugins and integrations for billing, video and student records. Those costs are real, and they add up.
